Two men were wounded Saturday night in a shooting at Bowie State University, just days after five people were shot at another historically Black university in Maryland.
Maryland State Police responded to the shooting at Bowie State, Maryland’s oldest historically Black college, just before midnight and issued a shelter-in-place for the school that wasn’t lifted until 3 a.m.
The two victims, both 19, were found at the school’s Center for Business and Graduate Studies and taken to the hospital. Police said during a news conference Sunday morning that they recovered a weapon on the scene and believe there was only one shooter.

The shooting took place during homecoming festivities, as did the shooting Tuesday at Morgan State University on Tuesday, as CrimeOnline reported. Four of the five people shot have since be released from the the hospital, and Morgan State cancelled classes and most homecoming events in the wake of the shooting.
Bowie State officials said classes would be cancelled on Monday and counseling services made available, WTOP reported.
State police said that the two victims were not students at the university. Four of the five victims at Morgan State were students.
