14-Year-Old Shooter Arrested at Georgia High School, At Least 4 Dead, 9 Injured

Police placed a Georgia high school on lockdown Wednesday morning due to an “active shooter situation.”

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office reported that a suspect is now in custody and “casualties” have been confirmed following a shooting at Apalachee High School.

Two people were reported dead and four people have been injured, according to 11 Alive News. A student reportedly told a parent that someone was shooting “inside the school.”

On Wednesday afternoon, CNN reported that nine people were reported injured and four people had been reported deceased. A law enforcement source told CNN the shooter is believed to be 14 years old, while Newsmax reports that the shooter has been identified at Colt Gray.

Officials reported that Apalachee High School received a call Wednesday morning, warning of shootings at five schools, with Apalachee being the first target.

Authorities have not yet identified the caller and are investigating the source of the threat, according to officials.

“Please do not come to the school at this time while officers work to secure the area,” a letter to students read, AJC reports.

The school also sent the message to parents at 10:45 a.m.

The sheriff’s office has not released further details, but said deputies are on the scene and will provide updates soon.
