14-Year-Old Girl Florida Girl Missing from West Miami

A South Florida teen was seen rushing out of her West Miami apartment building Sunday night — after telling her mother she was taking out the trash — and hasn’t been seen since.

Alyssa Mariela Gonzalez Velazquez, 14, left home at about 7:30 p.m.. The surveillance video from the apartment hallway shows her rushing to the stairwell to head out.

“It seems like she had already been kind of planning this,” her mother, Lissandra Velasquez, told WTVJ. “She was running with her shorts [under her arm]. She came down the stairs, through this door over here.”

Velasquez said the family recently moved to Florida from Cuba.

“I never thought she would do this, that she would leave us,” the mother said, adding that she believes she may be with friends she met in school — friends she hasn’t met.

“I’m calling, calling, sending messages, everything, and nothing,” Velasquez said. “Please, we want her to come back. We’re suffering a lot … we want her home.”

Velazquez is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen wearing a black tank top and black leggings with purple shoes, but was carrying a pair of shorts as she left.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Miami Police Department at 305-266-0530.
