11-Year-Old Boy Finds Parents Bodies After They Murdered Each Other

A Washington state couple killed each other on Halloween night, and their 11-year-old son made the gruesome discovery.

A 911 call brought medics and police to the Longview home just after 6 p.m., the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said. They found Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz, 38, and Cecilia Robles Ochoa, 39, with serious injuries in the kitchen. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 11-year-old boy was the only other person at the home at the time, and he was in another room playing video games with earbuds. When he went into the kitchen, he found his parents and called 911.

Witnesses told investigators that the couple had relationship troubles and had been planning to separate.

Autupsies determined that Alvarado Saenz died from multiple stab wounds to the chest, and Robles Ochoa died from gunshot and stab wounds. Officers recovered a pistol and a knife from the scene. The gun had been stolen from Alvarado Saenz’s employer but was not discovered missing until after the dual murders.

Police said the autopsy results indicated that the couple assaulted each other, but investigators were unable to determine who was the primary aggressor, even though Alvarado Saenz had stolen a gun.

According to a GoFundMe set up by the family to pay for the funerals, the couple had three children.
