1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Easter Brunch Shooting in Nashville

Gunfire erupted at a coffeeshop Sunday afternoon near downtown Nashville, leaving one man dead and at least four other people wounded.

Two other people were brought to area hospitals with non-gunshot-related complaints, WKRN reported.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said the incident was reported just after 3 p.m. during brunch at Roasted, in the city’s Germantown neighborhood. The gunman opened fire and then fled in a Mercedes GLS 450, according to MNPD public information officer Don Aaron.

“This was not a shootout, if you will,” Aaron said. “This was one person who decided to pull a gun based on an altercation occurring with another man, and then he fired multiple shots, resulting in the injuries I’ve just described.”

Police said they’re “almost certain” they know the identity of the gunman and provided photos of him and his Mercedes.

“Tragically, Easter was disrupted by gun violence in my neighborhood at one of our wonderful small businesses,” Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said in a social media post, according to WTVF.  “@MNPDNashville has the area secured, and @NashvilleFD EMS has taken care of victims. My heart goes out to those who had their holiday disrupted by gun violence.”
