Ahead of their game against the 76ers on Monday, young Nuggets fans trolled Joel Embiid with savage ‘missing person’ posters after it was announced he was out with an injury.
Monday night saw the Philadelphia 76ers match up against the Denver Nuggets in what was supposed to be a clash between two of the MVP frontrunners.
Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are two of the best big men in the NBA and perennial MVP candidates, and over the years they’ve developed a healthy rivalry which appears respectful.
Fans were salivating at the prospect of them facing off on Monday night, but were left disappointed when the 76ers star was ruled out. That prompted some expert level trolling from a set of young Nuggets fans who proceeded to troll Embiid with ‘missing persons’ posters.
Embiid ruled out of Nuggets clash with injury
Embiid has played in 33 of the last 35 games for the Sixers but was unable to play on Monday night. After working out Monday morning, Embiid was ruled out with a calf injury.
The last time Embiid and Jokic last faced each other was in January when Embiid scored 47 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a Sixers win.
Embiid is averaging a league-leading 33.3 points per game as well as 10.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Jokic, meanwhile, is averaging 24.9 points, 11.8 rebounds and 9.9 assists while leading the league with 28 triple-doubles.

Both men are usually pretty respectful but fans of both are particularly vehement.
After it was announced the Embiid would miss the game, Denver fans couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to troll the C’s star.

Young Nuggets fans created several Joel Embiid ‘missing persons’ posters, mocking him for being absent. Descriptions on the poster included: ‘No MVPS, No first team All Stars, Tall’.
Without Embiid the 76ers didn’t stand much of a chance.
The Nuggets ended up beating Philly111-116 on the night, handing the Sixers their fourth loss in their last five games.
Nikola Jokic held up his end of the deal, registering yet another triple double with 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists in a dominant performance.
Embiid has not played against the Nuggets in Denver since 2019
It’s been a while since Embiid has played against the Nuggets in Denver. Many have criticised him for ‘running from the matchup’ with Jokic in Denver, and his latest absence has not helped his cause.
Joel Embiid’s last game vs the Nuggets in Denver happened in the 2019/20 season on November 8th. Embiid finished the game with 19/15/2/0/1 and eight turnovers on 6/17 shooting while Jokic hit the game winning shot and finished with 26/10/6/2/2 on 10/22 shooting.
This was Joel Embiid’s 14th missed game of the season. Just one player in NBA history has reportedly missed 12+ games and still won the MVP award that season – Bill Walton in 1977-78, who missed 24 games.
