Crystal Palace are said to be unimpressed by Patrick Vieira after 12 games without a win, and are looking at Vincent Kompany as a potential replacement.
That is according to the Guardian, who believe Michael Carrick is also being considered by the south Londoners.
If Crystal Palace do manage to lure Kompany – who has 72 wins in management – to Selhurst Park, then the appointment would surely come with Pep Guardiola’s approval.
What’s the story?
Well, the Spaniard recently spoke of his admiration for the Belgian, and believes it is “destiny” that he will manage Manchester City one day.
The Manchester Evening News quote Guardiola as saying: “I said sooner or later, he will be manager for City. When, I don’t know, but I am pretty sure. It is my feeling, maybe I am wrong. His work ethic, knowledge of the game, a lot of respect, experience doing what he has done is so difficult and he is doing it really, really well. He knows the club, the environment, our fans and what our people need. The destiny is there.”

While Crystal Palace fans won’t want to see their beloved Eagles used as a stepping stone by anyone, an endorsement by someone as esteemed as Guardiola can only be a good thing as Steve Parish eyes Kompany.
The 36-year-old has his Burnley side sat 13 points clear at the top of the Championship, and is just three wins away from mathematically securing promotion to the Premier League.
Kompany could be another Vieira for Crystal Palace
While Kompany has done a tremendous job at Turf Moor so far, Crystal Palace have a few reasons to be wary.
First of all, the Belgian lacks managerial experience, much like Vieira when he was hired back in July 2021.
Parish must also be cautious of hiring Kompany based on what he achieved as a player.

Like Vieira, Kompany was a dominant captain of his side, although as the Frenchman is now showing, that doesn’t always equal success in management.
The same goes for Carrick, who is also in the infancy of his managerial career.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Crystal Palace could soon part ways with Vieira as they find themselves just three points above the relegation zone.
