Who is Mattress Mack?
Born on February 11, 1951, in Starkville, Mississippi, Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is an American businessman who owns the retail chain Gallery Furniture.
He studied at the University of Texas and the University of North Texas and played football at both schools.
He worked at a convenience store straight out of college but got fired, which strengthened his resolve to make a name for himself.
Mack then landed a job at a furniture store where he learned the tools of the trade.

He later decided to open his own furniture business.
He got the nickname Mattress Mack because wore mattresses in the commercials for Gallery Furniture.
The business continues to thrive to this day, with Mack reportedly having a net worth of $300million because of it.
Outside of his venture, Mack is known for sports betting, adopting exotic animals, and collecting rare antiques, including Princess Diana’s diamond necklace and Elvis Presley’s old Lincoln car.
Who is Mattress Mack’s wife, Linda McIngvale?
Mattress Mack and his wife Linda got married in 1981.
They tied the knot when Mack was just starting his furniture empire.
He had asked Linda to come with him to Houston, and she agreed with the condition that they get married.

Linda operates the Westside Tennis and Fitness Club, which Mack also co-owns.
In 1992, the pair funded Chuck Norris’ film, Sidekicks, and were credited as executive producers.
Like Mack, Linda harbors a love for exotic animals, having helped rescue India the tiger in 2021.
“They’re awesome animals, and it’s great to be able to have conversations about conservation and animals in the wild,” she told Fox26.
Linda is also part of the board of directors of Peace of Mind, an organization that provides resources to people with OCD.
Per her bio on the site, Linda is “tirelessly fighting to not only find a cure to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder but to stamp out the stigma of mental health.”
She is also revered for her philanthropic efforts.
Linda notably donated $50,000 to Mary Lou Retton’s fundraiser.
The Olympic gold medalist is battling a rare form of pneumonia, and her family set up an online fundraising campaign to help pay for her medical bills.

Mattress Mack and Linda have three known children: Elizabeth, Laura, and James McIngvale.
James works with Mack at Gallery Furniture, while Laura runs two restaurants in Texas.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth is a mental health advocate and the founder of Peace of Mind.
She is the director of the McLean OCD Institute at Houston, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, and an adjunct assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
