Who are Aaron Carter’s parents?

On January 28, 1980, Jane Spaulding and Robert “Bob” Carter welcomed their first son Nick Carter.

Backstreet Boys member Nick is the first of Jane and Robert’s five children together.

The former married couple is also parents to twins Aaron Carter and Angel and their late daughters Leslie and Bobbie Jean.

Robert, who suddenly died in 2017, was also a father to Aaron’s older sister Virginia “Ginger” Carter from his first marriage.

After his divorce from Jane, Robert fathered one more son named Kaden Brent Carter.

Regarding the family’s fame and fortune, Bob told PEOPLE: “We’ve had some very tough times.

“There’s a lot of pitfalls to growing up in the public eye. The bottom line is that I love my son very much.

“It’s important that he knows that I will do anything for him.”

Bob appeared with Aaron, Nick, and three of his other children in their 2006 reality series House of Carters.

On January 31, 2012, Jane and Bob’s daughter Leslie Carter was found lifeless at the latter’s home in Mayville, New York.

At the time, Leslie and her daughter Alyssa were staying at Bob’s while she was battling issues with addiction.

On November 5, 2022, the Carter family and their last surviving parent Jane suffered another loss when it was announced Aaron was discovered dead at his home in Lancaster, California.

Although police attributed his cause of death to a drug overdose, Jane believes otherwise.

“They never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past,” the grieving mother stated via social media.

“Aaron had a lot of death threats and many, many people who were making his life miserable.

“Because of my son’s mental illness and prescription drug issues they (cops) just wanted it to be something easy that they didn’t have the time or inclination to address. There are people who must be held accountable.”

When did Aaron’s parents Jane and Robert divorce?

In March 2003, Jane and Bob filed for separation and divorced the following year.

On April 1, 2004, Bob tied the knot with his third wife Ginger Elrod and held their wedding in Key West, Florida.

At the ceremony, his children Aaron and Angel were in attendance.

On June 7, 2005, Bob and Ginger welcomed the former’s seventh child, a son named Kaden.

On May 16, 2017, it was announced that Bob was dead at the age of 65.

The news was broken by Nick Carter on Wednesday, May 17 as he posted on Twitter: “I am heartbroken to share the news that our father, Robert, passed away last night.

“While we learn more about the cause of death, and begin the grieving process, we ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time.”

Aaron shared similar sentiments and tweeted: “My heart is Completly shattered I’m in shock and I loved my dad so much. #RIP DADDY I Love You.

“We are so hurt we lost you poppa way too soon. You were never human to me, you were always my real life super hero.”

Bob was survived by his five living children – Virginia, Nick, Angel, BJ, and Kaden.

Barely a year on from the death of Aaron, sister Bobby Jean, known as BJ, was also found dead aged 41.

She was discovered in her Florida bathroom intoxicated with a mix of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to People magazine.

Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Department categorised the death as accidental, the magazine reported.

A heartbroken Nick posted to Instagram: “It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has endured over the years.

“We are reminded again that life is precious, fleeting and to cherish the time we have with the ones we love.”
