WHITE Lotus stars Aime Lou Wood and Walton Goggins had fans in tears over their love story, but the stars behind the characters may be feuding.
The actors, who played Rick and Chelsea in season three of the hit HBO show, had spoken of their extremely close bond while filming the show in Thailand.
Sunday night’s finale saw the onscreen couple die in a dramatic Greek tragedy-style shoot-out at the luxury resort.
Goggins, 53, posted a gushing, romantic tribute to their characters, which was not liked by Wood, 31.
Fans noticed they do not follow each other on Instagram, but they follow their cast mates, who liked the post and praised the pair.
Reddit, TikTok, and X are now flooded with speculation over why the pair are not following each other on the social media site.
One fan posted on Reddit, “I feel like no one is talking about the falling out of them?
“They unfollowed each other on insta a couple weeks ago, walton posts white lotus stuff and tags everyone in the photos except aimee lou wood, posts a whole tribute to white lotus and still doesn’t tag her, posts tons of pictures of her on his story in a commemorative tribute to the show. what happened?”
They added, “They used to idolize each other and talk about each other in such positive light in interviews and such, it’s so weird that all of a sudden there’s this switch up?”
There is no proof the pair previously followed each other, but they are both active on the site and follow their castmates.
“We both became enmeshed in each other, the way that Rick and Chelsea are.”
Actor Goggins told People in February
The U.S. Sun has contacted both Goggins and Wood for comment on the feud rumors.
After The White Lotus finale, Goggins posted a montage of photographs of their two characters along with behind-the-scenes shots, and a lengthy Instagram caption.
It read, “With the heaviest of hearts… To me, ours was a love story. It was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved, childhood trauma. In the depths of our despair there is always beauty around us.”
Goggins, who is married to director Nadia Conners, went on to thank showrunner Mike White, and paid tribute to Wood.
He said, “Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner… a journey I will never forget,” but she never liked the post.
One fan posted on X, “Walton Goggins not tagging Aimee but tagging everyone else… WHAT HAPPENED.”
Another speculated, saying, “I’m so curious [about] this beef between Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins.”
Goggins had spoken in-depth about his love for Wood in several interviews before the finale.
“We both became enmeshed in each other, the way that Rick and Chelsea are,” he told People in February.
A month later he also told The Telegraph that he knew the actress would be “a very special person in my life,” and described her as being, “on some levels, a soulmate.”
Wood also told Vanity Fair that the two became “very close” while filming the show and that they were sometimes in parallel with their characters.
MISSING FROM PARTY
“There was a lot of personal mirroring going on [with Walton],” she said.
“We’ve not had the same lives as them, but everyone’s essence is pretty similar to their character.”
The cast attended a show party at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village on Sunday evening, including Wood.
However, Goggins was absent and was last seen in New York leaving the Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, April 8.
Goggins was also at an event on Monday evening in the Big Apple.
He was pictured with his wife Nadia at the screening and Q&A for the movie The Uninvited.
Goggins married the filmmaker in August 2011 and they have a son together.
The actor was previously married to Leanne Knight who tragically took her own life in 2004 at the age of 37.
They had been married since 2001 and were estranged when she went missing before her death was revealed three years later.
Goggins has spoken about the immense loss of his spouse and how he went to Thailand two decades earlier to grieve her death.
“It’s a very complicated story,” he told GQ in February. “Ultimately it was revealed the decision that she’d made. And yeah … I thought it was really unrecoverable for me. Life on the other side of that.“
He continued, “And I spent the next three years looking for an excuse – not to end it, but certainly putting myself in situations that were questionable, not with drugs or anything like that, just life experiences and traveling. And I really went all over the world.”
