Glenn Hoddle thinks Eric Dier fouled Mason Mount in the build-up to Harry Kane’s goal for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea, whilst he questioned Raheem Sterling’s actions at the far post.
With less than ten minutes left on the clock, under-fire Chelsea boss Graham Potter was about to ring the changes, but that’s when Kane struck gold, killed off the game with a back-post goal and sealed the points for his side.
But questions were raised as to whether Dier fouled Mount as the corner came into the box, with Hoddle claiming that the England defender ‘pinned’ his fellow countryman down.

Two more England stars were then involved, this time it was Raheem Sterling who was the guilty party.
And whilst the Dier-Mount challenge can be debated, this one can’t because Sterling let Kane go at the wrong time and he had the simple task of scoring from close range at the far post.
Hoddle spoke about both incidents, and whilst he thinks Dier did foul Mount, he wasn’t best pleased with Sterling’s effort, who would ironically get subbed off moments later, as he told Premier League Productions (25/02/23 at 3:45 pm).
“I think anywhere else on the pitch, that could be given as a foul,” said Hoddle. “He has pinned Mount down. That looks a foul to me.
“My real crux, from Chelsea’s point of view, look at Sterling. What is he doing? Marking Harry Kane, he’s an attacking player and he’s picking up Kane at the back post. Exactly (he’s not even looking).

“He is there, putting him off, and then he lets him go! Number one, what is he doing picking up Harry Kane? And, number two, do your job!
“Harry Kane picks up loads of goals from set plays at the back post, doesn’t he!? Just getting off the ground, the power is on the ball, the ball is travelling and just needed to guide it. A very good goal from Harry Kane.”

TOTTENHAM DESERVED THE POINTS
Not even the most ardent of Chelsea fans will argue with that result, even though it’s against Tottenham.
This was, in the end, a comfortable win for Antonio Conte’s men and that’s an alarming thing to say given Chelsea’s record against their London rivals over the years.
Chelsea fans will be more annoyed with the man in their dugout – Graham Potter – because they feel he is stinking the place out and this latest defeat doesn’t help matters, at all.
