THE cooking world has been in mourning following the death of celebrity chef Michael Chiarello.
The Napa Valley restaurateur, who passed away last month, was best known for his speciality of Italian-influenced Californian cuisine.

What was Michael Chiarello’s cause of death?
Michael died of Anaphylaxis – a severe reaction to an allergy – on Friday, October 6, 2023.
The star chef suffered a fatal allergic reaction which sparked a heart attack, the Napa County coroner told TMZ on Wednesday.
The 61-year-old died was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in California, as reported by Variety, where doctors were able to restart his heart.
However, he later died from hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy – a lack of oxygen to the brain.

The coroner did find cocaine in Michael’s system from earlier drug use but stressed that his death was not the result of an overdose.
It remains unclear exactly what caused the allergic reaction.
Was Michael Chiarello married and did he have any children?
Michael was married and leaves behind his wife, Eileen Gordon.
Eileen also works in the culinary and wine industry, being the founder and CEO of California-based food and healthy living organization Barnraiser.
The couple married in 2003, before Michael filed for divorce from Eileen in 2019.
The couple shared a son, Aidan, who was born in 2005.

Michael also has three daughters from a previous marriage – Margaux, Felicia, and Giana.
Following his death, a statement from Michael’s family read: “We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael.
“His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being.
“He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table.”
The statement continued: “As we navigate this profound loss, we hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in his kitchens and in our hearts.
“His legacy will forever live on in the love he poured into every dish and the passion he instilled in all of us to savor life’s flavors.”
What TV shows did Michael Chiarello feature in?
The TV personality hosted various programs on Food Network, PBS, Fine Living, and Cooking Channel for years.
Michael’s first cooking show, Season by Season, debuted on PBS in 2001.
He then went on to present two more series for PBS over the next two years before moving to the Food Network in 2003.
Michael presented Easy Entertaining With Michael Chiarello on Food Network for 10 seasons, quickly becoming his most popular show.
He also participated in Next Iron Chef on the same network and appeared as a guest chef on Today and The View.
As well as this, Michael served as a judge on Bravo’s Top Chef and Top Chef Masters.
