THE Dead to Me actress has starred in plenty of on-screen romances – but who has she dated in real life?
Linda Cardellini, 48, is best known for her roles as braniac Velma in Scooby Doo, Meg Raybrun in tense drama Bloodline and exasperated mom Sara Whitaker in hit comedy Daddy’s Home.
Behind the camera, the star has dated fellow actors and has one daughter, Lilah-Rose Rodriguez – here’s everything you need to know about Cardellini’s dating history.
Nicholaus Goossen
There is little known about the relationship between Cardellini and Goossen, but the pair sparked a romance in the early 2000s.
Goossen, 45, was born on August 18, 1978 in Los Angeles and now works as a director and photographer.
Cardellini featured in his debut movie Grandma’s Boy, a stoner comedy, which was produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Produtions.
At the time, the Scooby Doo actress told The New York Times: “Nick encouraged us to take risks, whether they panned out or not.”
Jason Segel
The How I Met Your Mother icon, who played loveable goof Marshall, started dating Cardellini in 2001 when they were on set filming Freaks and Geeks.
In the TV show, which was cut after just one season, Cardellini and Segal play friends who later become romantically involved.
The teen drama also starred James Franco, Busy Philipps and Seth Rogan.
Cardellini reportedly ended their relationship after five years together and, according to multiple sources, their breakup partly inspired Segal’s popular comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
He told Time Out in 2008: “I was unemployed for quite a while, and I did not handle it well.”
It’s been speculated that breakup inspired Segel’s character’s naked meltdown in the opening scene of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
“I was trying to experience [the breakup] viscerally, as a person,” Segel added.
“But all I could think was: ‘This is hilarious. I cannot wait for her to leave so I can write this down.’”
Segal has always spoken highly of his ex-partner and said “she was a great girlfriend”.
Justin Rogina
Linda Cardellini and Justin Rogina enjoyed a fleeting fling in the early 2000s but not much is known about their relationship.
They appeared on red carpets together from June to August in 2008 while they were both breaking into the acting industry.
It appears the pair amicably split due to busy and conflicting schedules.
Rogina is best known for his appearance in The Parkers and The Trip but he has kept out of the spotlight in Hollywood since.
Steven Rodriguez
Rodriguez met Cardellini when they were both just children at school, aged 11 and 10, but didn’t spark a romance until 2011.
The pair crossed paths again later in life, with Rodriguez also landing a successful acting and directing career.
He has featured in Pacific Blue, Clockwatchers, Looking for Lola, as well as many other movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
They soon realised there was a romantic connection and began dating.
At the time, the Dead to Me star told OprahDaily: “We’ve been friends for years and years, and it was not even three years that we got together and realized that we should’ve been doing that all along…It didn’t take long to figure out we were amazing friends and we could probably be great partners.”
“It seems very meant to be,” Rodriguez added.
They welcomed a daughter together in February 2012, Lilah-Rose Rodriguez.
The couple then became engaged in the summer of 2013 and have been together since, but never married.
They keep their personal life fairly private and not much else is known about their relationship.
