TikTok users are sending love and support to new mothers who don’t want their children to “grow up watching the sunset”, so Internet users are curious to know what that phrase means.
Over the years, the social networking site has become the go-to platform for the craziest of trends. But, along with the fad surrounding some bizarre challenges, TikTok has played an important role in bringing awareness to serious issues pertaining to humans and society.
HITC had previously explained the meaning of ‘Angel cut with layers‘ on TikTok, a code phrase used to tell someone that you’re a victim of domestic violence.
And now, there is another important message concerning young mothers that social media users are promoting.

What does growing up watching the sunset mean on TikTok?
The trending phrase represents a new mother’s ordeal following pregnancy which may push them to give up their life. But, they are fighting the dark thoughts as they don’t want their child to grow up watching the sunset.
The Chant explains: “Numerous people look at sunsets as the expression of a lost loved one.” So, in this case, a child growing up watching the sunset means growing up without their mother.
As heartbreaking as it sounds, the trend draws attention to postpartum depression and other health issues women may be faced with after giving birth which is often overlooked or seldom spoken about.
The trend sees exhausted mothers holding their children with an overlay text that reads: “I don’t want her/him growing up watching sunsets.”
The phrase could also be used to refer to anyone dear to you, who you feel doesn’t deserve to live in memories when you’re gone.

Women experiencing these symptoms for a prolonged period of time following pregnancy are highly recommended to seek help from doctors and professionals as it is a very common issue that can be treated.
