What is the ‘coconut heart’ on The Good Doctor?
When Jordan’s grandmother expresses discomfort in her chest and swollen ankle, Asher runs a few tests to find a sack around the heart swollen with calcium deposits. Is it described as a “coconut heart” by Dr. Audrey Lim.
The condition could stop her heart from functioning if the despite weren’t removed surgically and prevented from narrowing the valves.
Although Jordan worried about her grandmother’s condition, the doctors could successfully perform the surgery for the condition and she felt better after the second procedure.

Apparently, the term coconut heart is seldom used in medicine, but it refers to rare instances of dystrophic left wall calcification, Distarcify notes.
The condition is caused by damage to local tissues and cellular necrosis, meaning the death of most cells, mostly occurring in middle-aged or older persons.
The calcium deposits on the valve, making it narrower and harder to push the blood to the heart.
