What are Travis Kelce’s DirecTV commercials?
In the commercials, Travis is cast as an ‘Overly Direct Sportsperson’ who criticized other TV providers for being unreliable or too difficult to use.
In one of the ads he says, “DirecTV Sports Central gives you access to every game,” which some considered problematic.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the NFL, which is a partner of the TV provider, criticized those claims as being “deceptive advertising” since YouTube currently owns the residential rights to its Sunday Ticket.
DirecTV responded that customers can access YouTube watch Sunday Ticket through its Sports Central Platform for an additional fee.

What happened to Travis Kelce’s DirecTV NFL commercials?
The NFL took their complaint to the National Advertising Division (NAD), a self-regulatory business group, who determined that the commercials featuring Travis were misleading.
The organization said the claims made were “not clear as to what sports programming is and is not available for viewing with the advertised service,” according to a report by the Better Business Bureau.
DirecTV told the WSJ that they will alter the ads in compliance with NAD’s decision. The rest of the content, including Travis’ performance, will stay the same.
NAD’s decisions are not legally binding but if a marketer fails to comply with its decision, they can be referred to the Federal Trade Commission.
