What happened to Halsey?
On June 4, 2024, Halsey revealed that she was privately battling illness through a series of Instagram videos.
She captioned the post, “long story short, i’m Lucky to be alive. short story long, i wrote an album.”
She tagged The Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the post.
Previously, the singer-songwriter disclosed that she was battling several illnesses in 2022.
She was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, per AP.
What has Halsey said about her health struggles?
In the first Instagram video, Halsey says, “I feel like an old lady,” while rubbing her legs as she appears to be in pain.
She continued, “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick.
“At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just gonna get to re-do my 20s in my 30s,” she continues.
It’s unclear who she’s speaking to in the clip.
In the second video, she says, “Today is day one of treatment,” but stops short of disclosing what type of treatment she is receiving.
The fourth slide is a brief snippet of her singing The End, a new single from her upcoming album.
The singer is strumming along with her guitar while she sings the ballad.
In the fifth and final clip, she appears to be receiving an infusion.

Halsey also announced an acoustic guitar ballad called The End which will serve as the first single from her upcoming fifth album.
The song chronicles her health struggles.
The opening line goes, “Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks.”
While Halsey has not revealed the title for her upcoming album, Vulture reports that the record is inspired by her diagnosis.
