Arsenal fans have now been given an injury update on Eddie Nketiah and William Saliba live from London Colney.
What’s the story?
Well, Mikel Arteta has been unable to call upon his No.14 and No.12 recently.
Nketiah has missed the last three Premier League outings and also both legs of the Europa League Round of 16 clash against Sporting Lisbon due to a foot injury.
In regards to Saliba, the £27m man sat out Arsenal‘s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace after suffering a back injury in the second leg of the Europa League defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
Now, Sky Sports have provided an update from London Colney, which you can see below.
In a live report from Arsenal’s training ground, Sky Sports revealed that Nketiah and Saliba were still not present amongst their teammates as the Gunners prepare to take on Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium this Saturday.
Nketiah – who Aaron Ramsdale called “incredible” on The Fellas podcast – was seen in a protective boot before the international break, and it remains to be seen if he no longer needs to wear it.
Arsenal need Saliba back more than Nketiah
Nketiah is a very valuable player for Arteta, although the Gunners can deal with his absence for now as Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus are available for selection in the centre-forward role.
However, the depth at centre-back is not as luxurious, and Rob Holding – despite his talents – can not match what Saliba brings to the side. Takehiro Tomiyasu is also absent after undergoing surgery.

The 27-year-old did well against Crystal Palace, but the goal-shy south Londoners are a lesser test than Leeds and Liverpool are expected to be in the next two weeks, so he could struggle if the Frenchman remains out.
Hopefully, Saliba’s back injury is not too serious, and he – as well as Nketiah – can return to Arsenal’s Premier League title charge as soon as possible.
