Arsenal transfer news: Nicolas Seiwald makes Gunners decision

Nicolas Seiwald has turned down the chance to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk in CaughtOffSide.

The journalist has claimed that Arsenal have been holding talks with Seiwald’s representatives.

However, the midfielder himself has decided that a transfer to the Gunners at this stage of his career is not for him.

Falk has claimed that the 21-year-old Austria international midfielder has decided to join RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window instead.

The youngster is on the books of RB Salzburg at the moment.

Nicolas Seiwald turns down Arsenal

Falk wrote: “Since Sunday, it’s a done deal for Nicolas Seiwald to move to RB Leipzig, he’s signed a contract until 2028.

“I heard that there were very concrete talks between Arsenal and the player’s management. At the end, Seiwald decided for Leipzig.

“He’s the 20th player moving from Salzburg to Leipzig and always saw the value in making the next step and continuing the education at Leipzig.

“I think the Arsenal rumours and concrete talks are interesting because now we know what kind of player the Gunners are searching for in the summer.

“For those who don’t know, Seiwald is referred to as the ‘Alpine Toni Kroos’.”

Keep monitoring

In our view, Arsenal should continue to monitor Nicolas Seiwald.

RB Leipzig are a big and ambitious club who are aiming to win the Bundesliga title, and they also compete in the UEFA Champions League.

We think that the Gunners should keep tabs on the youngster in the coming years.

Seiwald is only 21, and it is very likely that he will grow and develop in the coming years.

The central midfielder has scored one goal in 18 Austrian Bundesliga matches so far this season.

Seiwald has also scored one goal in six UEFA Champions League and has played twice in the UEFA Europa League.
