Monday, April 10, 2023, is Easter Monday, a recognized public holiday for many workers across the US, but is the stock market open today?
This past weekend saw businesses and local government services in the US and beyond close their doors, as many workers came together with their loved ones for the annual Christian celebration of Easter.
And, as those who frequently invest their money will know, many major stock markets took a rare break over the weekend too, because even the financial world needs a rest sometimes.
But as we prepare to say goodbye to the Easter weekend, is the stock market set to open back up today, or will it remain closed on Easter Monday, 2023?
Are the NYSE and Nasdaq markets open on Easter Monday 2023?
Yes, the stock market is open on Easter Monday 2023, with the NYSE and Nasdaq markets set to open their doors today at the usual time of 9:30am EDT.
Both markets were closed on Friday, April 8 for the traditional celebration of Good Friday but the pre-opening, early trading and core sessions will all proceed as usual today.

As always, the core market will be open from 9:30am through to 4pm without a break, from today until the end of the trading week on Friday, April 14.
Though the NYSE and Nasdaq markets don’t often close for holiday celebrations, the Good Friday break is a traditional one and will take place again next year in 2024, at the earlier date of March 29.
