AC Milan v SSC Napoli - UEFA Champions League

Jamie Carragher has stated that Rafael Leao was ‘unstoppable’ in the Champions League on Tuesday night as AC Milan took a slight advantage over Napoli.

After recently beating Napoli 4-0 in Serie A, in which Rafael Leao netted a brace, this time around, they secured a 1-0 win in the first leg of their quarterfinal Champions League tie at the San Siro.

Stefano Pioli’s side will head to Naples next week very confident and Carragher thinks Leao is going to cause them ‘big problems’ on the break.

In recent seasons, the 23-year-old’s stock has been growing, that’s why he has been linked to clubs like Arsenal in the Premier League.

But it will go up a few levels if he guides AC Milan to the European Cup, with Carragher praising the player, before and after the Napoli clash, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (12/04/23 at 10:35 pm).

“I think he is brilliant,” said Carragher. “He has been involved in 19 goals this season in all competitions. At times, he gets criticised for not being consistent enough.

“But I think he is fantastic. You look at his power and strength.

On his performance v Napoli: “Leao will get a lot more of these opportunities in the second leg because Napoli find themselves behind. But he is unstoppable when he is in this situation when there is just space in front of him.

“He doesn’t have to do much, but he just has to use his biggest strengths, which are his pace and power. He is going to be a big problem for Napoli in the second leg. You can’t stop that, it’s just a case of whether or not he can finish.”

LEAO IS AN EXCITING PLAYER

Over the course of the season, the Portugal International has ten goals and seven assists to his name in Serie A, whilst he has four assists and one goal in the Champions League.

He played a huge part in AC Milan winning the Serie A title last season and he made himself a legend, as a result.

But he will go amongst the greats if he can help one of Italy’s most famous clubs add European Cup number eight to their cabinet in the next few months.
