Twitter predicts Bud Light stocks will crash after Dylan Mulvaney drama

After the drama with Dylan Mulvaney and the Bud Light boycott, Twitter users have predicted that Bud Lights stocks will take a hit. But how are they actually looking?

A popular internet personality named Dylan Mulvaney has found herself at the center of a fierce debate, after posing with a set of Bud Light cans in a sponsored video she posted online.

The drama has engulfed the internet and has even led to a potential boycott of the beer by some, which has prompted Twitter users to predict an imminent crash in Bud Lights’s stocks.

So we investigated these claims and checked how Bud Light is looking on the stock market, as we enter the fourth day of the drama surrounding Mulvaney and the beer brand.

Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney boycott drama explained

In what has been an unusually controversial week for one of the US’s most popular beer brands, several people on the internet are saying they will no longer drink Bud Light, due to their sponsorship of Mulvaney.

Mulvaney is known, among other things, for her transgender identity and she received the custom Bud Light cans as part of her celebration of completing her first year of transitioning.

The kickback has seen people such as the outspoken Kid Rock destroy cans of Bud Light and denounce their parent company, Anheuser-Busch, seemingly for what they believe to be a departure from traditional American values from Bud Light.

Addressing the situation, Bud Light told Fox that “From time to time, we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public”.

Twitter says Bud Light stocks will crash after Dylan Mulvaney drama

And in the wake of the Bud Light and Mulvaney fallout, some users have outlined their predictions on what will happen to Bud Light’s stock in the coming days.

One irate Twitter user posted a photo of a selection of drinks in the Anheuser-Busch range that he claims he will now look to avoid, predicting that the company’s stock will soon “tank”, before declaring “Go woke, go broke!”

Another trader admitted that it may be time to short their Bud stock, conceding that they believed the chart graphics foreshadowed an imminent crash for the drink industry giants.

The anti-woke message is prominent among Twitter traders, with Lia, a trader with over 30,000 followers, declaring that “this world is just too ridiculous”, before announcing the need to “Cancel cancel culture” and “cancel wokeism”.

Have Bud Lights stocks crashed?

So, do Twitter’s traders have a point out the Bud Light boycotters?

Well, at the time of writing on April 5, it may be too early to speculate how this week’s events have affected Bud Light’s stocks, but they certainly don’t appear to have crashed.

Google Finance shows that Bud, or rather Anheuser-Busch as they appear on the stock market, has fallen slightly from $66.85 at the day’s opening, to $66.53 at the time of writing at around 15:40 EDT.

The current price is still higher than the price was on Thursday, however, prior to the boycott drama, and is around $5 higher than it was this time last month in March.
