A prominent figure in the Democratic political Twittersphere has passed away, as Aunt Crabby’s family confirm her death this March.
Aunt Crabby, who also went by Aunt Sybil to those who knew her, has been absent from Twitter. Her family have since confirmed the reason. Sadly, Aunt Crabby has passed on after years of making her mark in the political social media realm.
Who was Aunt Crabby?
For anyone who is just learning of Aunt Crabby, the popular Twitter user who described herself as an anti-Trump activist.
She signed up to the social media platform in February 2013 and amassed a following of over 465,000 on Twitter. Aunt Crabby’s account is currently set to private, although her family have indicated they are considering making the account public after their aunt’s death.
Aunt Crabby’s banner image is a picture of the red and blue stars and stripes of the American flag. It reads: “Proud Member of #TheResistance that Defeated Trump.” The Resistance is an American liberal political movement that started in the wake of Donald Trump‘s election as president in November 2016. It is not just comprised of Democrats but Independents and Republicans who oppose Trump.

Aunt Crabby’s family confirm her death
On Monday, March 27, Aunt Crabby’s family shared the news that the popular Twitter user had passed away.
“It is with deep sadness that I report to you that my Aunt Sybil, Aunt Crabby, has passed,” a family member wrote from the official DearAuntCrabby account.
“Auntie wanted me to tell you that she loved you very much,” they wrote before adding that “her greatest wish was to see Donald Trump atone for his crimes against Americans.”
“This account will remain open for the near future.”
Twitter users pay tribute to ‘fierce blue patriot’
As news of Aunt Crabby’s death circulates, a number of her followers and friends have taken to the internet to pay homage.
“Today we lost a fierce blue patriot and a dear friend,” one Twitter user wrote. “We all know her here as Aunt Crabby. She will be severely missed.”
Occupy Democrats editor Grant Stern tweeted: “We promise to keep the fight going relentlessly against Trump and his fascism while you’re no longer with us.” As Trump runs for president a third time, The Resistance will continue on in their plight against the former US leader.
“Thank you for all of your hard work,” writer Amee Vanderpool posted in tribute.
