Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil has withdrawn from the Spain squad due to a muscle issue.
The Spurs ace had been recalled to the Roja setup in wake of his fine displays for Sevilla this term.
However, Spain’s Twitter account confirmed on Thursday that Gil has had to leave the national camp.

On Friday, AS spoke further about what happened with the Tottenham gem.
The Spanish outlet – via Sport Witness – reported that Gil was complaining about muscle discomfort.
It was preventing him from training with his international teammates, added the report.
Gil’s concern led to him undergoing various tests.
Spain’s medical team, coach and the Spurs gem ‘decided that it was best’ for him to withdraw from the squad.
The concern was enough to withdraw him to ‘avoid possible further injury’.
Gil will now continue his recovery at Sevilla.
The Tottenham man’s loss is ‘bad news’ for Spain manager Luis de la Fuente.

The Roja coach has already lost Gerard Moreno for this month’s fixtures against Norway and Scotland.
De La Fuente has decided not to bring in a replacement for the Spurs talent.

Good call
It’s a shame Gil won’t get the chance to play for his country this month, but it’s certainly the right decision.
If he has a fitness issue, then it’s best that he spends the international break recuperating fully.
Gil is enjoying his time at Sevilla, and it remains to be seen what happens at the end of the season.
Obviously with Antonio Conte’s future up in the air, a new manager could potentially give him a new chance.
After all, Gil is a talented player and has amazing potential.
So much so, in fact, that Graham Roberts deemed him a “little superstar” in his first few months at N17.
However, that’s not for now. All Gil can do is continue to impress on loan and then we’ll see what happens in summer.
