Today host Sheinelle Jones’ book release date postponed after she steps away from show to cope with ‘family matter’

TODAY host Sheinelle Jones has postponed her upcoming book’s release date as the takes time off to deal with a personal issue, The U.S. Sun can report.

Sheinelle, 46, has not appeared on Today since before Christmas, and in January told concerned fans she was taking time off to cope with a “family health matter.”

She has remained away from TV, and has not posted to social media since her statement.

The TV anchor first announced in September she was writing a book called Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans.

“If you are a mom, a grandma, an auntie, a big sister, a cousin, if you take care of any children, and I say children ages 0 to even 62, because mothering never stops, this is my love letter to you,” she said on Today.

She revealed the book would be released on April 15.

But now, the book’s release date is scheduled for October 21, according to publisher Penguin Random House.

No statement has been made on the big change in plans.

‘I’LL SEE YOU SOON’

On January 15, Sheinelle addressed her fans in an Instagram post, stating: “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.

“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you.

“Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”

When she returns, Sheinelle will be promoted to an exciting new position, a source claimed.

In February, a source exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Sheinelle has been chosen to replace Hoda Kotb as Jenna Bush Hager’s co-host on the show’s fourth hour.

“Sheinelle is perfect for the position because she’s a seasoned professional,” a source said.

“They need someone who can throw to break, someone who knows the craft of making TV work, and Sheinelle is a pro.”

Today did not respond to The U.S. Sun’s call for comment on Sheinelle’s upcoming promotion.

After Hoda’s departure, Craig Melvin was chosen to replace her as Savannah Guthrie’s co-host.

“Ratings with Craig are good,” the source added.

“This taught executives that the audience wants people they know and that they should promote from within.”

Sheinelle has three children: Kayin, 12, and twins, Clara and Uche, 12, with her husband, Uche Ojeh.

A source told People that the health issue does not concern Sheinelle or her kids.
