DESPITE being together for nearly 30 years, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus had a rocky relationship that included several called-off divorce announcements.
In April 2022, Tish Cyrus filed for divorce for a second time, revealing that she had been separated from Billy Ray Cyrus for more than two years, but the famous mom-ager wouldn’t stay single for much longer.
When did Tish Cyrus and Dominic Purcell meet?
In the February 7, 2024, podcast episode of Call Her Daddy, Tish Cyrus revealed that she had a longtime crush on Dominic Purcell before they officially began dating.
Tish told Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper that when she would watch Prison Break with her daughters Miley and Brandi, she was always on “Team Lincoln,” a nod to Purcell’s character, Lincoln Burrows, on the hit 2000s show.
She had even jokingly referred to Purcell as her “hall pass” throughout her nearly 30-year marriage to Billy Ray Cyrus.
Tish also revealed that their relationship started in a rather unconventional way for the older couple – on Instagram.
“In 2016, Dom DMed me,” Tish said, as reported by US Magazine.
“I had followed him on Instagram and he DMed me and just said, ‘Hey Tish, just wanted to [say], I think you’re super cool and… you’re doing such a great job with your family,'” she said, adding, “I didn’t see it for a year.”
“[His] ex had seen he hit me up and blocked me from his Instagram,” Tish explained.
“I almost peed my pants because I was like, why am I blocked? He doesn’t even know I exist, and I’m blocked,” she said.
“We were laughing so hard,” she added, explaining that her daughter, Brandi, had been the one to discover she had been blocked in the first place.
A few months after filing for divorce in April 2022, Tish realized she was unblocked, and decided to slide into Purcell’s DMs.
She told Cooper that she told Purcell she wanted to get together and discuss a potential show idea.
Tish is the owner and current president of Hopetown Entertainment, a TV and film production company.
Purcell responded immediately, even telling Tish he had a longtime crush on her.
“So, we go to lunch and make out for like three hours,” Tish said.
She even revealed that they said “I love you” to each other just one day later in July 2022.
Tish and Purcell went public with their romance in November 2022, with Tish sharing a photo of the happy couple in an Instagram Story.
She then posted a quote that read, “In God’s perfect timing, everything will turn out right!”
Tish then wrote, “Sometimes that’s hard to believe but it is so TRUE.”
That same month, Purcell asked Trish to marry him during Thanksgiving, surrounded by family and friends.
“Dom, along with Miley, planned the entire thing,” Tish told Vogue, as reported by People.
“They knew we would all be together as a family and thought it would be the perfect time!”
The couple publicly announced their engagement in April 2023, with Trish sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram.
“A thousand times…. YES,” she captioned the post, alongside a red heart emoji and tagging Purcell’s Instagram handle.

Tish Cyrus and Dominic Purcell wasted no time in getting married.
The duo, who got engaged over Thanksgiving 2022, officially tied the knot less than a year later on August 19, 2023.
The couple’s Malibu, California ceremony took place in Miley’s backyard.
Miley was also Tish’s maid of honor, while her oldest children, Brandi and Trace, were also a part of the wedding ceremony.
Tish’s other children, Noah and Braison, were notably absent from the nuptials.
“To see my mom this happy and in love is very emotional for me,” Miley said in a Vogue interview, as reported by People.
She added that the couple “share the sweetest, most genuine love.”
Tish echoed her daughter’s sentiments about the big day.
“It was like I was in a fairy tale,” Tish said.
“The most romantic fairy tale you could ever imagine,” she added.

Together, the duo make up quite the blended family, with nine children, and one ex-stepson, between them.
