Aston Villa boosted their hopes of European qualification with a 3-0 hammering of Newcastle United.
Unai Emery’s charges bossed their fellow Premier League high-flyers at Villa Park in Saturday’s early kickoff.
Ollie Watkins registered a brace and an assist to take his league tally this season to 14 goals and six assists.

Meanwhile, Jacob Ramsey scored his fourth Premier League goal of the campaign.
It was an outstanding team effort from Villa, with every player impressing on the day.
The Birmingham Mail handed out 8s and 9s – plus a 10 for Watkins – in their post-match ratings piece.
No player received less than a 7 out of 10.
After the match, Tim Sherwood said two players were “fantastic especially” – Watkins and Emiliano Buendia.
He told the Premier League website: “Who knows how high this Aston Villa team can go?
“Watkins and Buendia were fantastic especially, but across the board they were outstanding.

“They dominated Newcastle all over the pitch.”

‘Worked hard for the cause’
As per Whoscored, Buendia registered one shot, made one key pass and weighed in with two tackles in the game.
The Birmingham Mail gave Buendia a 7 out of 10 for his display.
“Worked hard for the cause without seeing much reward,” they wrote.
“With a few of his through-balls being cut out by Newcastle’s defenders.
“Spent a lot of time on the floor with Newcastle aggressive with their duels.
“Buendia did get his assist, though, when he crossed for Watkins for 3-0.”
His contributions on the day were immense, away from the stats sheet.
Buendia routinely pulled the Newcastle defence apart thanks to his outstanding abilities on and off the ball.
