HITC recently reported on a rumor circulating TikTok, where a user claimed there was uncharted land in China with dinosaurs roaming around. So what did China actually discover?
From the 2022 discovery of the Bisticeratops foeseorum, a species of horned dinosaur found in New Mexico, to the remains of the Sauropod diamantinasaurus discovered in Australia, the world of dinosaur news is exciting.
In the age of never-ending internet conspiracy theories, it can be hard to keep up. A video has recently gone viral on TikTok in which a user claims China has discovered dinosaurs populating uncharted land.
During the video, an American woman claims she was at a nail salon when she first heard the alleged dinosaur news. According to the post, the Chinese nail technicians working at the time were watching the “Chinese news”. The woman then used a translator app on her smartphone to translate the news.
As the video continues, the woman alleges that a group of scientists found several dinosaur-like creatures on land left untouched by humanity. The user goes even further, claiming the creatures discovered were “over 13 feet tall”.
Naturally, many are suspicious of the information, as the user provides no evidence or credible sources. So, let’s take a look at what China actually discovered.
Did China discover uncharted land with dinosaurs?
HITC has found no evidence to support the TikTok user’s claim of large dinosaur-like creatures in China.
One of the most recent reports of a dinosaur discovery from China was documented back in November 2022. Specialists claimed they discovered some rare fossilized footprints in Shanghang County, located in Longyan City in east China’s Fujian Province.

Another recent report claimed that Chinese scientists discovered bones of a newly identified species. Found in the region of Xinjiang, the species is thought to be around 252 million years old.
In 2022, a 630-foot deep sinkhole was discovered in Leyey County in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Inside the sinkhole, specialists reported found various primitive trees. Some trees had grown to be over 100 feet tall, with the sinkhole also featuring 3 caves. The interior of the hole was around 1,004 feet long and 492 wide.
However, despite recent Jurassic discoveries, there is no available evidence to support the TikTok theory of an uncharted land with dinosaurs in China.

“It’s very shocking”
The lack of credible information hasn’t stopped the TikTok user. Since the woman’s original video, she has gone on to post multiple parts discussing the dinosaur rumor.
In ‘Part 5’, the user claims Chinese scientists “tracked” a skull to an uncharted land, where they discovered not only two different types of dinosaur-like creatures but also “giant pandas”.
She then goes on to claim the scientists became “scared” at their discovery. Although she states she doesn’t actually know what happened, she suggests the scientists attempted to capture the creatures.
However, HITC can find no recent reports to support any of the user’s claims.
