Big Bear’s Bald eagle family has gone viral as a live stream shows a pair of eagles caring for their eggs through a snowstorm.
The lives of Jackie and Shadow, two bald Eagles from Big Bear, California, have been live-streamed on YouTube for several years, but gained some serious internet attention after at least 45 inches of snow fell on Big Bear in a span of 72 hours.
The avian couple has been diligently caring for their eggs through the hazardous weather – simultaneously keeping them warm while equally warming the hearts of thousands of viewers.

TikTokkers who watch the 24-hour live stream have shared clips of their favorite moments on TikTok.
One user shared a video of a moment when Jackie, the female eagle, and Shadow, the male eagle, switch duties. To the soundtrack of Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes, we hear Shadow call to Jackie who is keeping the eggs warm. She hears the call, gets up, and leaves the nest. Although the eggs are momentarily unsupervised, we soon see Shadow fly into the picture to look after them.
In another TikTok, we see one of the eagles bringing in what is known as a “delivery.” The bird carries a large stick into the nest, presumably to reinforce the nest.
In another fanmade TikTok, we see Jackie attempting to make Shadow get up. However, her efforts are unsuccessful.
Friends of Big Bear Valley are responsible for the live stream
The Bald eagle live stream is provided by a non-profit called Friends of Big Bear Valley. As per its website, it “planned, raised funds, obtained permits and installed a Bald Eagle Nest camera on the first ever active bald eagle nest in Big Bear Valley, California.” The camera and sound system are also solar-powered.
Jackie and Shadow’s nest is in the San Bernardino National Forest and has been in active use since the fall of 2013. The surrounding area is closed to the public during nesting season to protect the eagles as bald eagles have been known to abandon their nests when disturbed by humans.
The non-profit provides useful information about the birds. For instance, Jackie is 11 and Shadow is nine. During nesting season, Jackie sleeps in the nest while Shadow sleeps “perched in a tree nearby in case he is needed.”

Netizens are obsessed with the feathered internet celebrities. One TikTok user commented on a video of Shadow delivering fish to the nest: “Better than some parents I knew. Loved watching this & Thanks for sharing.”

Another fan wrote: “Such a good man taking care of his family. Great role model Daddy.” A third user said: “That’s amazing to me that they can keep those eggs warm enough.”
