As Arsenal defeat Leicester 1-0 on Saturday, Paul Merson has said that Bukayo Saka should have got a penalty.
Foxes centre-back Harry Souttar was seen making clear contact with the £70,000-a-week wonderkid but the decision was not given in the visitors’ favour at the King Power Stadium.
However, when it came to Leandro Trossard’s disallowed goal against Brendan Rodgers’ men, which was tough to spot, albeit saw the club legend agreeing with the decision, it was called rather swiftly.
It is this very aspect that seems to have incensed Paul Merson as he feels the foul on Bukayo Saka was much clearer and should have led to Arsenal getting a penalty against Leicester.
Merson says Arsenal should have gone a penalty vs Leicester after Saka foul
At this point, it seems impossible to predict VAR calls as the decision-making tends to be so erratic.
However, Paul Merson had his say after Arsenal were not handed a penalty against Leicester after Bukayo Saka was fouled against Leicester on Sky Sports.

“The ball comes in from the right-hand side and all of a sudden Souttar tangles his legs with Saka and they go down. I don’t know. “They’ve had a look at it and they can’t see that but they can see someone holding someone’s hand [for the disallowed goal].”
The lack of consistency is the biggest problem
While there is technology involved, humans make the final decisions and keeping that in mind, it is completely understandable when the odd error is made.
However, that simply is not the case with VAR decisions in the Premier League as Paul Merson has a right to be livid about the decision not to give Arsenal a penalty against Leicester after Bukayo Saka was fouled.
Comparing the foul on the English winger to the one on Danny Ward and the final decisions showcased the bafflingly poor standards of refereeing in the most watched league in the world.
