JOY Behar has teased a new phase in her career journey after being absent from The View.
The 81-year-old host was recently absent from the US daytime TV show to prepare for a new project.

On a new episode of the podcast titled The View: Behind The Table, Joy discussed what her future holds.
When talking about social media, the TV personality said that her dog is a “star” online.
“Maybe when I leave The View I should become a social media person,” she laughed.
Later on in the podcast, she revealed that she was interested in directing after watching the director of her play, Bonkers in the Boroughs.
“I have a director and I’m watching the way she does it because I’m gonna do that next. I’m gonna direct something next because I think I can do that,” she revealed.

Throughout the week, Joy was absent from the show for a few days.
On Thursday, Joy took the day off for personal reasons.
Her co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, 67, revealed the reason why.
“So, Joy is not here today because she is preparing for the premiere of her play, Bonkers in the Boroughs at the New York Comedy Festival,” she explained.
“We did not want to her be stressed and not ready, so, they’ve given her…” Whoopi said before her co-hosts talked over her.
Sunny Hostin revealed that along with writing and producing the play, Joy is also acting in it.
“In one of the plays. She keeps reminding me,” Sunny, 55, said.
“So, that’s why she’s not here,” Whoopi said.
“But, we’ve got you, Ana. Always a pleasure.”
Ana Navarro, 51, is the part-time host who joins The View desk on Mondays, Fridays, and when a host is out.

JOY’S NEW MOVE
Away from the show, Joy will also reportedly be working on a new book.
However, her latest project is not yet titled, according to PEOPLE.
According to its publisher, Regalo Press, the upcoming project will showcase Joy’s “acute powers of observation and her ability to vividly recreate the little details and fleeting moments that make up a lifetime.”
The publisher also said that it will “please both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
The book will not be an autobiography, however, the new book will be non-fiction and will focus on subjects that Joy is familiar with, including relatives, hair, erections, bullies, and romance.
She will “take aim at everyone and everything, including herself.”
However, fans are going to have to wait a bit to read Joy’s words as it is not slated to come out until late 2024/early 2025.
Joy’s released a self-book in 2007 When You Need a Lift: But Don’t Want to Eat Chocolate, Pay a Shrink, or Drink a Bottle of Gin.
IS JOY LEAVING?
Joy responded to the retirement rumors during a September episode Behind the Table.
Joy sat down with The View’s executive producer, Brian Teta, who immediately asked the host about whether she is retiring or not.
“People are always asking me, ‘Is it true Joy’s retiring? Is Joy walking out?’ I said you enjoy this too much. I think you like doing this,” Brian told her.
Joy put listeners’ minds at ease and admitted that she has no plans on leaving the daytime show anytime soon.
“First of all, people like me don’t retire. I’m a creative person…I’m a writer. There’s no such thing as retiring. You mean, will I quit this show?” Joy asked.
“Yeah, of course,” Brian replied.
Joy got a bit gruesome and said: “Okay, that’s a more specific way of saying it. I don’t want them taking me out here feet first.”
Brian closed the conversation by joking: “No, certainly not, but you’ll outlive us all. I’m not worried about that.”
