Patrice Evra has raved about West Ham United midfielder and reported Arsenal target Declan Rice on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.
The former Manchester United defender played with Rice, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, at West Ham.
Evra has said that he has noticed the progress that the England international midfielder has made in his game since.
According to The Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are determined to sign Rice from London and Premier League rivals West Ham in the summer of 2023 and could prioritise him over fellow midfielder Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion.
TalkSPORT journalist and presenter Jim White has said that West Ham want as much as £120 million plus add-ons for the midfielder.
Patrice Evra on Arsenal target and West Ham United star Declan Rice
Evra said: “I played with Declan during my short time at West Ham. What I loved about the kid is, first of all, he is really humble, he wants to learn and I see the progress. Now he is making the right decisions.”

Making Arsenal better
In our view, Declan Rice will make Arsenal better and stronger in the middle of the park.
Yes, Rice needs to improve certain aspects of his game.

It would be great if the Englishman, who can also play as a defender, score more goals or makes more attacking forays.
There is certainly room for improvement in his game.
But, we must not forget that Rice is only 24.
Rice is not the compete midfielder yet, but he could be in the future.
Playing alongside Thomas Partey in the middle of the park would make Rice a better player.
And it would make Arsenal stronger too.
