The first coming of Peggy Scott Adams in the 60s

Scott Adams was born in Opp, Alabama in June 1948 though she spent her childhood in Pensacola, Florida, and, before she was famous, Scott Adams got a pretty good first gig in the music business.

Prior to her solo artist career, Scott Adams got her first taste of the music industry as teen, when she toured as a backup vocalist for Stand By Me singer, Ben E King.

Scott Adams first came to fame in her own right in the late 1968s, and had a number of successful collaborations with fellow soul singer Jo Jo Benson, most notably including the endearing 1969 hit, I Want To Love You Baby.

But Scott Adams’ first stint in the music industry was short-lived. Unfortunately for the Soulshake singer, despite the fact she had been signed to a successful label, Scott Adams had effectively left the industry by the early 1970s and was soon back working a normal job.

Adams revived her career in the 90s

Thankfully though, rumor has it that Scott Adams was convinced by soul producer Jimmy Lewis to return to the studio in the 1990s, and her decision to accept was a wise one.

Scott Adams released the first album of her revival, Help Yourself, in 1996 to critical acclaim. The project reached number one on the US Blues chart, and helped to kickstart a career that looked like it was all but done.

By far the biggest track on Help Yourself, and arguably the main driver behind the album’s success, was Bill – the album’s opening song that detailed the painful experience of finding out your partner is in love with someone else.

So much was the success of Bill that Scott Adams went on to revisit the track more than 15 years later, an dedicated a whole album to the song – a release dubbed Life After Bill.
