'The closer it gets': Neville predicts whether Arsenal or Man United will finish higher

Gary Neville has made a prediction about whether Arsenal or Manchester United will finish higher at the end of the Premier League season.

The Sky pundit has often been slated for doubting Mikel Arteta’s side in general, not just in the title race. From responding to a Gunners fan telling him to not get ahead of himself in their quest to become domestic champions, questioning Oleksandr Zinchenko’s leadership abilities or their need for a new striker after Gabriel Jesus’ injury, the list goes on and on.

While Arsenal have constantly managed to prove every doubter of their wrong including Gary Neville, he has given his honest prediction about whether they will finish above Manchester United, as he famously did not think so at one point.

As brilliant as the Red Devils have been under Erik ten Hag, most fans and pundits alike will likely not them put the, anywhere near the London-based club in terms of where they finish.

However, Gary Neville has stuck to his prediction about Manchester United finishing above Arsenal in the latest episode on The Overlap YouTube channel.

“That’s my inkling. Earlier in the season, what normally happens is one team gets so close they realise they can’t win it and then they just go like that in the last 2 or 3 games. You lose 2 or 3 games and all of a sudden, someone goes above you.”

“I thought [Manchester] City would win the league and [Manchester] United would finish 3rd two or three months ago. To be fair, I’m not going to change my mind on it. I still think City are going to win the league, even though Arsenal, the closer it gets…but 14 games is still a long way to go. I still think United will finish 2nd.”

If Gary Neville does end up being right about Arsenal finishing as low as 3rd after the stormer of a season they have had, below Manchester United, then that may be a contender for prediction of the season.
