NELSON Thomas has shared graphic photos and videos of his amputated foot after surgery following a near-fatal car crash.
The Challenge competitor was pulled from a burning car after a blazing crash last year.
Nelson, 34, shared videos and photos with his followers post-amputation surgery on Thursday.
The reality star opted to remove his right foot due to ongoing health complications after the life-threatening accident.
In a shocking photo from the hospital, the TV personality displayed his newly amputated leg.
Nelson smiled brightly while lying in his hospital bed wearing a white gown.
His leg, which had been amputated halfway down the calf, was covered in stitches as he healed from his surgery.
The MTV star wrote, “I’m truly blessed.”
Nelson added a clip of him bending his knee back and forth to show fans his continued mobility.
Nurses wrapped his leg in heavy bandages to assist in his healing process.
They added a huge brace with velcro straps as the video closed out.
Nelson captioned the post, “The moment I moved my knee for the first time, witnessing it in person, was truly remarkable. #march5th #amputee #belowkneeamputee #blessed.”
LIFE-CHANGING DECISION
Last month, Teen Mom star Cory Wharton’s friend revealed that he opted to get his foot amputated after the gruesome near-fatal car accident in March.
The reality star posted an update to his Instagram profile on Sunday including photos and videos from the accident and his recovery in the months since.
The first image was a photo of the Teen Mom star sitting on a rock outdoors holding crutches.
Nelson looked solemn as he gazed away from the camera and toward the horizon.
The MTV regular added a photo of the door of his orthopedics clinic and then immediately after a shot of his burning car from the crash.
He added a snap of the vehicle once the flames were extinguished as it sat in ruin, completely totaled.
Nelson then switched to a photo of himself in the hospital with his leg propped up, covered in blood.
He showed an image of his foot, completely swollen and infected.
The Challenge star also included a gruesome photo of his ankle cracked open with blood along the wound and permanent burns left at the site.
Nelson added snaps from the various surgeries he underwent to attempt to fix his ankle.
Another hospital shot showed the TV star lying in bed, smiling with double thumbs-up signs.
He showed his x-rays and other healing methods that he attempted before opting for “amputation.”
Nelson captioned his post, “March 5th 2023 remains vivid in my memory, a persistent presence in my thoughts.
“I consciously embrace it as the initiation of a new chapter. Opting for amputation, I am determined to own March 5th and redefine its significance in my life.
“Get ready, amputation world! I’m on my way! I am scheduled for surgery on March 5th, 2024.”
NELSON’S CONCERNS
Nelson updated concerned fans on Instagram about a potential amputation back in September.
Wiping tears from his face, he began a video from his doctor’s office: “Aw man, well,” struggling to get the words out.
“I’m at the Texas orthopedists. My doctor- everyone- I just got my scans back. Just got my X-rays back.
“The bone has been rebroken. It’s out of place, it’s not healing at all.
“I’ve been having pain these last two weeks, but I thought it was from me maybe overworking it from physical therapy.”
He added he’s been diagnosed as being in a “salvage” stage, whether either they can “salvage” his ankle or “amputate it.”
“But no, where they have the screws and plates, the bone broke. It did not reheal.”
Nelson added that he was promised his ankle would re-heal in a year, which it’s nearly been, making him upset beyond words.
He captioned the video, “I received the most disheartening news about my ankle. I’ve chosen to seek a second opinion from a specialist. If you have any recommendations for doctors specializing in ankle fusion or related treatments, please comment below.”
