Ben Chilwell has lauded former Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney as someone who is having a ‘brilliant’ season in the colours for Brentford.
The Chelsea left-back stated that Ivan Toney, who left Newcastle United in 2018, is a ‘handful’ for the opposition and a player that’s ‘potent’ in front of the goal.
Over the course of the season, the 27-year-old has an incredible 16 goals from his 24 Premier League games.

Only Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland are ahead of him, which is some going for the player and a big reason why he was called up by England again.
If it wasn’t for Kane and what he has done during the past ten years, then Toney would be a sure starter for England and one the fans would be very happy with.
Nonetheless, when Chilwell was talking about his England team-mate Toney, he bigged up the thriving striker, as he told his press conference.
“He is having a brilliant season for Brentford,” said Chilwell. “Scoring a lot of goals. When you come up against him as a player, he is a handful and a very physical player.

“But technically he is very good as well. In front of the goal, he is potent. He scores a lot of goals. Great penalty-taker. We are very lucky that he is here with us.
“It goes back to the competition. When you have someone like Ivan, who is also scoring a lot of goals, then it gives Harry (Kane) that push to keep going and Ivan is hungry to play for England and to make a mark.”

TONEY’S NEWCASTLE EXIT
During Toney’s time at Newcastle, he only made four senior appearances, without scoring a goal, before heading back to the lower leagues.
It just goes to show that you don’t need to showcase your worth straight away as a youngster, but the best performances can come during the latter years.
The likes of Jamie Vardy and Ian Wright are previous examples of strikers thriving in the Premier League during their mid-to-late 20s, as Toney is now experiencing that.
