'Sorry': Pundit sends Chelsea warning to Mykhailo Mudryk after Arsenal snub

Arsenal missed out on signing Mykhailo Mudryk in January but he is now being told to wait his turn at Chelsea.

That’s the view of pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor, who has been speaking to talkSPORT today.

Mudryk was left on the bench against Borussia Dortmund as Chelsea claimed a vital 2-0 Champions League win.

Mudryk didn’t even come on as a substitute; Graham Potter used his changes to bring on Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Denis Zakaria and Conor Gallagher.

This was all about winning the game and advancing to the last eight of the Champions League, with Potter in no mood to just to hand out minutes to Mudryk.

That means Agbonlahor believes Mudryk will now have to be patient and wait for his chance – something that seems clear if Pulisic is coming on ahead of him.

Agbonlahor suggested that Chelsea must now go forward with a front three of Joao Felix, Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling, leaving Mudryk on the sidelines.

“Chelsea have got to go forward now and stick with that team,” said Agbonlahor. “Mudryk, sorry, you’ve got to wait your time now, you’ve got to stick with Felix, Havertz and Sterling, give them games after games and I’m sure Chelsea will start winning games in the Premier League,” he added.

Patience will be key for Mykhailo Mudryk

Arsenal fans may be looking at Mudryk’s situation and having a laugh to themselves.

Mudryk was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for months and it looked like a deal would finally be done in January.

The Gunners were left stunned though as Chelsea hijacked the move, paying a staggering £88.5million to Shakhtar Donetsk for Mudryk.

Shakhtar snubbed Arsenal’s bids and Mudryk wasn’t waiting around to see if Arsenal were going to make a new bid, instead rapidly heading to Chelsea.

That was a killer blow at the time but Arsenal may not feel quite so bad now.

Mudryk has played just seven minutes of Chelsea’s last three Premier League games, serving as an unused substitute in the last two.

It’s clear that Graham Potter doesn’t quite think Mudryk is ready yet and he must be patient.

Mudryk was very impressive at Shakhtar but a lot of his best work came on the break; wide open spaces for him to use his blistering pace.

That hasn’t been afforded to Mudryk at Chelsea and he must adapt his game to the Premier League, which may take a little time.

Mudryk has so much potential but Chelsea and the winger himself need to be patient in order to see that transfer fee paid back.
