He’s responsible for singing sensations such as One Direction, Little Mix, Westlife and Fifth Harmony.

And now Simon’s on the hunt to put together what he hopes is the next big band to rock the charts.

A source told the MailOnline: “Something has been in the works that’s imminent and is very different to what has been seen before and yes, it will probably involve putting together a new group.”

The insider added to the publication that Cowell is ‘fired up about the challenge’.

Simon confirmed the news himself to the Mail, declaring: “There is nothing more important than a great song.”

He’s signed with Universal Music Publishing Group who will find and promote song writers.

Despite Simon cutting ties completely with his music label Syco, which later closed down, he seems to be still focused on the music industry.

A large number of the bands under his wing were found and developed through the now axed X Factor.

The Sun has contacted Simon’s agent for comment.

Simon throwing himself into work comes after he sold his West London mansion over safety fears.

It follows a series of break-ins at the luxurious property, which he lived in with his partner Lauren Silverman and their eight-year-old son Eric.
