What is your most anticipated superhero movie of the year? There are a fair handful of projects in the genre that are being waited upon with bated breath.
Among them, we have Shazam! Fury Of The Gods, a sequel to the 2019 film starring Zachary Levi.
He’s actually joined by DCEU newcomers such as Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, with this installment serving as the DCEU’s 12th installment. David F. Sandberg is at the helm of this comedy-infused blockbuster. Once again, we find ourselves with Billy Batson and this time he and his superpowered foster siblings are tasked with facing off against the Daughters of Atlas and a weapon that may spell humanity’s extinction.
If the mere promise of DC Comics-inspired thrills isn’t enough to encourage you to see it in theaters then the Shazam! Fury Of The Gods cast is likely to seal the deal.

‘It’s a dream come true’
The Shazam! Fury Of The Gods director previously opened up about bringing Helen and Lucy on board during an interview with ScreenRant:
“I mean, it’s a dream come true, first of all. I’ve been watching movies with Lucy and Helen, and now I get to work with them – which is just amazing. They’re just the best. When we had these three parts, we were like, ‘Let’s try and get the biggest and best actresses we can.’”
He continued: “And we were able to, because they said yes. It’s amazing.”

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods opens in theaters on Friday, March 17th 2023.
A streaming release date is yet to be announced but it’s likely to debut for home audiences roughly three months after the theatrical window closes, sometime this summer.
