Peter Schmeichel says the Chelsea dressing room ‘doesn’t work’ for Mykhailo Mudryk after he was ‘nicked from Arsenal’ during the January transfer window.
The legendary goalkeeper shared how Mykhailo Mudryk was ‘outstanding’ in the colours of Shakhtar Donetsk, which led to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal wanting to bring him on board.
But despite the 22-year-old sending hint after hint on Instagram that he wanted a move to Arsenal, in the end, he headed to West London and joined Chelsea.

The £97k-a-week Ukraine star will be wondering if he has made the right move because Chelsea are in a proper mess and they are facing the prospect of finishing in the bottom half.
After Graham Potter’s sacking, Frank Lampard is now through the doors, but in the Englishman’s first game back, he suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves, with Mudryk coming off the bench and failing to make an impact.
That’s only one assist to Mudryk’s name and zero goals since moving to Stamford Bridge, with Schmeichel sharing his thoughts on the player, as he told Premier League Productions (08/04/23).
“It was a lot of money spent and no goals,” said Schmeichel. “Mudryk was, for me, a big one. I have seen him play for Shakhtar in the Champions League a few times and he has been absolutely outstanding.

“But, of course, they play in a different style and they play in a different way. He is coming in with this price tag. He was sort of nicked from Arsenal, at the last minute, so a lot of external non-football issues around his personality.
“And now go and score goals, it’s a big, big call. The Chelsea dressing room doesn’t work. There isn’t a good atmosphere there. Too many players in there, who have brought in on promises, then they look around and there are 35 of them. Only 11 can play, so why am I not playing?”

MUDRYK STRUGGLES AS TROSSARD THRIVES
After the Mudryk transfer fell through, Arsenal knocked on Brighton’s door and secured the services of Belgium star, Leandro Trossard.
It’s fair to say that it’s been a blessing in disguise for the Premier League leaders because their January capture is already a record-breaker after his hat-trick of assists in one half against Fulham.
What’s even better for the Gunners is that Chelsea paid more than double the price they secured for Trossard’s services, so it’s worked out even better than expected.
