Fabrizio Romano believes Borussia Monchengladbach may demand a ‘minimum of 50 million euros’ for Manu Kouadio Kone with Premier League duo Liverpool and Newcastle United among the Frenchman’s admirers.
With Liverpool at risk of being left behind in the race to secure Jude Bellingham’s sought-after signature, reports over the last few weeks seem to suggest that Jurgen Klopp and co are now casting their net a little wider.
Alongside Ryan Gravenberch, Teun Koopmeiners and co; 21-year-old Kone is another all-action, technically-gifted young midfielder who would cost Liverpool a fraction of the £100 million-plus fee Dortmund want for Bellingham.

It would be a stretch, however, to describe Kone as a cheap alternative.
“Manu Kone will be one of the big names on the market,” Romano writes on Twitter. “I understand he could leave Gladbach for a minimum of 50 million euros (£44m) plus add-ons. Chelsea, Paris Saint-German and Manchester United (are) interested in the midfielder.”

Kone, Sky Sports say, also has admirers at Anfield. Newcastle are another hot on the heels of a man who could have joined Leeds United two years ago. Kone opted to join Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach from Toulouse instead (Daily Mail).
Kone, one of the most complete young midfielders in the game, arguably represents far better value for money than another of Newcastle’s leading targets, Scott McTominay. He is younger than Man United’s Scotland international, more malleable, and more technical too. Kone, who has represented France at youth level, averages an impressive 2.6 tackles per game in the Bundesliga, per WhoScored.

But he is more than just a ball-winner.
Bayern Munich found that out in October 2021; Kone capping a Man of the Match display with a goal as Gladbach thumped Julian Nagelsmann’s sorry side 5-0 in the DFB Pokal.
The player himself, meanwhile, appeared to open the door to hometown club PSG in conversation with Telefoot.
“(The interest is) nice to see. People know I’m from Paris. They’re a big club, they play in the Champions League and they have big players,” Kone smiles.
“When you play for them, you can only get better. But I’m at Gladbach, so I have to stay focused. We’ll see what happens, I’ll stay calm and professional.”
