Arsenal transfer news: Gunners could now move very quickly to sign

Arsenal want Moussa Diaby and have actually been following the Bayer Leverkusen winger for two years now ahead of a possible move.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking to Caught Offside about Diaby’s future.

Romano believes Diaby has been on Arsenal’s radar for ‘a long time’, even going back to 2021.

Romano does though note that Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United are similarly interested in the winger.

Bayer Leverkusen simply refused to sell last summer though and may well command a huge fee for Diaby should any clubs move for him this summer.

“Arsenal have appreciated Moussa Diaby for a long time,” Romano said. “It’s almost two years following him but the same happened with other clubs including PSG and Newcastle. Bayer Leverkusen wanted to keep him last summer and in January, for this summer it will depend on the value of the proposals,” he added.

Romano’s claims about Diaby come after Bild’s Christian Falk offered comments on Saturday.

Falk told Caught Offside that Arsenal are in contact with Diaby’s agents ahead of potentially launching a summer move.

Romano’s comments certainly tie into that report and Diaby could emerge as a key summer target for Arsenal.

Moussa Diaby would be huge coup for Arsenal

Arsenal signed a winger in January as Leandro Trossard arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Yet it sounds like Arsenal still want another wide man and speculation continues over the arrival of a potential attacking player.

Diaby may be that player and you can see why Arsenal like him.

The Frenchman – formerly of the PSG ranks – has been dazzling in the Bundesliga.

Diaby has racked up 11 goals and six assists in 32 appearances this term. Look at last season and Diaby notched 17 goals and 14 assists.

The 23-year-old has absolutely blistering pace and has been praised as ‘supernatural’ by his former coach Morade Djeddi whilst speaking to The Athletic.

Diaby has the direct running approach to challenge Gabriel Martinelli on the left whilst also being able to mimic Bukayo Saka coming inside from the right.

That should appeal to Arsenal and it sounds like Edu is strongly considering a big summer move for the speedy wide man.
