Veteran actor Robert Blake, who was the center of a murder scandal in the early 2000s, passed away on Thursday, March 9, aged 89, due to a heart condition.
Having begun his career in the late 1930s, Blake starred in a number of Hollywood classics including In Cold Blood, but had been out of work for around 30 years at the time of his death.
The late actor was married there times, and his first wife, Sondra Kerr Blake, was forced to speak out after the shooting of Blake’s second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley.

Sondra Kerr and Robert Blake were married in 1961, aged 25 and 28 respectively at the time. The pair stayed together for 22 years until they divorced in 1983, a considerably longer time than Blake’s other two marriages.
The pair have two children together: Noah Blake, who was born in 1965, and Delinah Blake who came a year later in 1966.
Kerr is a veteran actress who has made a number of big screen and TV appearances, ranging from the early 1960s right up until 2022.
Her most recent acting credit came in the 2022 sci-fi release, Broadcast, a dystopian release that saw Kerr play a minor role. Kerr has made several minor appearances in beloved shows including Days Of Our Lives and ER during her career.

After Blake’s second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, was shot to death in 2001, questions were raised about Kerr and Blake’s marriage. Fans’ curiosity was piqued after the press leaked various stories alluding that Blake had been abusive towards Kerr.

In the wake of these accusations, Kerr held a press conference in June 2001 to address the claims being made about her ex-husband.
As reported by ABC at the time, Kerr denied that she had leaked any stories about her relationship with Blake, while her lawyer insisted that the actress had “fond memories” from the 22-year marriage.
Kerr did not explicitly deny or confirm the accusations that Blake had been abusive and noted that “like all lengthy marriages”, they had had their “ups and downs”.
Kerr has stepped out of the limelight but still teaches
Though she appeared in a movie as recently as last year, Kerr appears to have taken a step away from the limelight in recent years, judging by her social media.
The actress used to post regular updates on her Facebook page, and often reminisced with friends and fans alike about her roles over the years, though she has not posted since late 2021.
According to an LA acting school website, Kerr is still working as an acting teacher and remains available for bookings. Her site bio describes Kerr as “arduously committed to giving back by guiding and mentoring talent in developing their craft and their careers.”
At the time of writing, Sondra Kerr Blake has not issued any official statement or offered any comment on the passing of her first husband, Robert Blake.
