Where was Beef filmed? Location of road rage drama explored

Netflix returns with yet another comedy drama. This time the streaming platform presents a new series engulfed in road rage drama. Naturally, viewers are eager to know more about Beef, so where was it filmed?

Starring Ali Wong as Amy Lau and Steven Yeun as Danny Cho, the series kicks off with an intense rage fuelled road incident between two strangers. From this moment on, Amy and Danny develop an extreme feud that snowballs into fiery chaos.

Over the course of 10 anger-filled episodes, both characters constantly clash as they become consumed by their road-rage incident. Beef promises to go beyond entertainment, as it takes a deep dive into the complex nature of its protagonists.

Originally produced by A24, the series hit Netflix on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Series creator Lee Sung Jin provides insight into Beef

In a recent interview with Variety, the creator of Beef Lee Sung Jin reflected on the compulsive and intense relationship between the two main characters.

When discussing Amy and Danny, Lee Sung Jin reflected on their inability to be authentic with those around them. “Both assume incorrectly that they cannot show their true selves to anyone in their lives”.

He went further, alluding to the bizarre connection the characters develop:

“Part of the reason they’re drawn to each other is they can feel this other person is as broken and messy as they are”

Lee pinpoints the core theme of the show by revealing the meaning behind the final episode of Beef, titled Figures Of Light. “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” Using the quote from Carl Jung as the series’ emotional foundation, Lee claims this is “ultimately what this show is about.”
