Aston Villa and Argentina star Emiliano Martinez seems to have rattled the rule makers at the top of football amid IFAB’s incoming rule change involving goalkeeper’s actions during penalties.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has posted on Twitter that IFAB’s actions are ‘ridiculous’, as keepers are now restricted in their actions when penalty kicks are taken.
At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Aston Villa’s number one keeper Emiliano Martinez got into his opponent’s head as Argentina secured glory by becoming champions of the world.

From the South American side’s penalty shootout win over The Netherlands to Martinez putting off a number of France players during that quite epic final.
The former Arsenal keeper stuck his chest out, talked the talk, but most importantly, he walked the walk on football’s biggest stage.
But now the men in between the sticks can no longer ‘touch goalposts and nets’, ‘delay an execution of a penalty’, ‘unfairly’ distract whoever is going to take the spot kick and behave in a manner that is deemed disrespectful.
It’s fair to say that former England striker Ian Wright isn’t a fan.

EMI MARTINEZ’S ACTIONS
There would have been many cursing at Martinez when he was going about his way during the penalty shootouts at the World Cup.
But, it’s always one of those things. If it’s a player on your team doing it, then you love it.
If they are on the other side, then you are more prone to dislike it. Either way, it’s entertaining and it’s putting pressure on the opposition.
But, of course, IFAB no longer want that, instead, they prefer keepers to sing nursery rhymes to their opponents.
