Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain has reportedly told Bernardo Silva that he can leave the club amid growing interest from FC Barcelona.
According to Sport, the City transfer official recently had a vocal exchange with the Portuguese international and his agent in which Begiristain is believed to have told Silva ‘If you want to go, go,’ a statement which could fuel the midfielder into leaving the club this summer.
As per the report, Barcelona have been keen to sign the 28-year-old for the good part of two years, and this summer is shaping up to be the window that the La Liga giants finally get their man, with City lowering their asking price for Silva down to a respectable £57m.
With City having big plans this summer on signing a new midfielder, it makes sense why Begiristain is more open to allowing Silva to leave in the coming months should Barcelona make a good transfer offer for the former AS Monaco superstar.

Indeed, Silva seems eager to leave City for Barcelona having been linked with a move to the Catalan side for so long, and after this latest conversation with Begiristain, the Portuguese international could finally be set to get his wish after years of links.

Although the midfielder’s form has been impressive, the mood around supporters with Silva could now turn, and the former Benfica academy product might soon find himself a Barcelona player earlier than expected if City chooses to sell the playmaker as early as possible.
Silva has to leave City this summer after explosive Begiristain conversation

Silva’s City career is slowly falling apart with each passing update from the British and Spanish press, yet this latest conversation with Begiristain could all but confirm the midfielder’s exit from the club come to the end of the season, with Barcelona now in a strong position to make a deal possible.
Although Silva could play a huge role in City winning the Premier League title, the midfield is unlikely to stay put following talks with Begiristain, with Barcelona likely to lodge in a sizeable offer in the weeks to come ahead of the summer transfer window.
