Newcastle United are continuing to monitor Christian Pulisic in view of a summer transfer for the Chelsea forward. Eddie Howe is planning a lavish spending spree for the next sales.

That is according to 90min, which reports Howe wants Newcastle to sign at least two new forwards plus a full-back, a centre-half and a central midfielder. The Toon boss believes he needs an influx of new options to maintain the momentum he has built so far this season.

Howe considers Newcastle’s need for two new forwards to be the team’s absolute priority ahead of the next transfer window. The Magpies coach also has a number of players on his radar now, including Bayer Leverkusen dynamo Moussa Diaby and Chelsea outcast Pulisic.

Newcastle had explored a move to sign Pulisic from Chelsea in the recent January transfer window. The Mirror reported that Toon chiefs were ready to make the Blues an offer after learning of their £40m asking price. But the Tyneside natives wished to drive down the fee.

Arsenal and Manchester United also showed some interest in signing Pulisic from Chelsea in the mid-season market. But they only wanted to hire the USA star on loan for the rest of the term. The Telegraph also reported Newcastle’s interest in Pulisic’s transfer last August.

Pulisic could soon show Newcastle his worth for a transfer with Chelsea again

Newcastle may try and see if the third time does the trick and target Pulisic’s transfer from Chelsea this summer. The 56-cap ace will have one year left on the £150k-a-week terms he signed in 2019. He has never signed a new deal since leaving Borussia Dortmund for £58m.

Pulisic is also out of favour in west London with just six starts during his 16 Premier League appearances this season. While the 5 ft 9 forward has only offered one goal and one assist over those matches. He did not score in 103 minutes in Group E of the Champions League.

Chelsea were open to Pulisic leaving Stamford Bridge in January as the Blues signed Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk, per Fabrizio Romano. Yet the west London natives, ultimately, kept the winger at the club. But he would then suffer a knee injury and is still yet to return.

Pulisic took part in training this Monday but only took a limited role in Chelsea’s workouts. He is likely to return to full fitness in March and could even feature to some extent against Leeds United. The Whites travel to the capital this Saturday to face Graham Potter’s squad.

The 24-year-old returning this weekend could see Pulisic face his compatriot, Tyler Adams, as well. While the Leeds midfielder is a huge admirer of his USMNT teammate, calling him ‘unbelievable’ during the World Cup. They could only help the USA reach the Round of 16.
