Report: Inter Milan fear Newcastle and Spurs will blow them out of water for Marcus Thuram

Inter Milan want Marcus Thuram but fear being blown out of the water by the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to The Times, who claim that Inter have been trying to agree a deal for Thuram ahead of the summer window.

Thuram is out of contract this summer and it has now been confirmed that he will leave Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer.

Inter are desperate to win the race as they look to add a quality attacker without breaking the bank.

Yet it’s added that Inter fear they will be blown away financially with Newcastle and Tottenham understood to be keen.

Inter aren’t in the best financial position and the likelihood is that Premier League clubs will be able to offer much bigger deals.

A move to the San Siro is still possible but maybe Thuram’s most likely destination will be England come the end of the season.

Newcastle or Tottenham moves make sense for Marcus Thuram

Thuram has been in outstanding form for Gladbach this season, smashing 11 goals and three assists in 20 Bundesliga appearances.

That kind of form is bound to attract suitors, especially when you consider his contract situation.

Thuram can play up front or on the left flank, offering a strong, versatile and dangerous threat in attack.

That’s the kind of player Newcastle United would love to sign even after big deals for Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Chris Wood’s exit means another striker is bound to arrive but Thuram can help add depth out wide too, solving two issues in one.

Add in that Thuram is close friends with Allan Saint-Maximin and a move to Newcastle would certainly make sense.

Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici loves to sign free transfers; he did it at Juventus and has already done it at Spurs with Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

Spurs already have Arnaut Danjuma on loan as a player who can offer versatility to play out wide or up front but Thuram can do the same – without costing a transfer fee.

The two sides may well battle it out for Thuram, with Newcastle and Tottenham possibly more likely destinations than Inter.
