US Lecce are now ‘looking forward’ to selling their captain, Morten Hjulmand, in a summer transfer. The Denmark midfielder is also a target of Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to Calciomercato.it, which reports that Hjulmand is very likely to leave his Serie A side this year. The 23-year-old has produced a remarkable season in his debut term as a top-flight player in Italy. While his efforts have merited the interests of a raft of rivals.
Roma are pushing hardest amongst his Serie A suitors with the Lecce skipper offering four assists during 21 appearances. Hjulmand has started in each of his appearances so far this season. While Inter Milan also appreciate him but the strongest competition is in England.

So, Lecce are ‘looking forward’ to landing an import fee for Hjulmand’s transfer at the end of the season. Stadio Via del Mare chiefs currently value their Denmark midfielder at €15m (£13m). But I Giallorossi will consider part-exchanging with Italian teams for young talents.
For now, though, Lecce are not looking to enter into negotiations with any suitor regarding Hjulmand’s transfer. Instead, the Apulia region outfit are focusing exclusively on their Serie A survival. The reigning Serie B champions sit in 13th place, 10 points above the drop zone.

Leeds and Tottenham to fight for Hjulmand’s transfer from Lecce this summer
While Calciomercato.it does not cite which Premier League teams are interested in Lecce’s captain, Calciomercato reported on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to the Stadio Via del Mare on several occasions to monitor Hjulmand in view of a transfer.
Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and runaway Serie A leaders Napoli also admire what the 23-year-old could offer them. While Lecce flat-out refused a €13m (£11.5m) offer from Southampton this January. They refused to sell then given his importance to their survival.
While Rudy Galetti also cited Leeds, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest as further suitors for Hjulmand’s transfer in January. Tottenham have since joined the race in view of a move this summer. While the Kastrup native’s contract only runs to 2024 with an option to 2025.
