Report: Jurgen Klopp really wants to sign Chelsea player but West Ham are now planning a bid

West Ham United are going back in for Conor Gallagher this summer as they look to beat Liverpool to the Chelsea midfielder.

The Hammers really need to secure their Premier League status before planning major summer signings.

Still, West Ham need to have midfield additions in mind with Declan Rice likely to leave this summer.

One of the top targets appears to be Gallagher.

The London Evening Standard report that West Ham are ready to move for Gallagher this summer.

It’s suggested that Gallagher is one of the ‘leading contenders’ to replace Rice and the Hammers are ready to move if they stay up.

Chelsea may well be open to selling if somebody comes forward with big money for Gallagher.

The homegrown product isn’t exactly a key player at Stamford Bridge and his sale could help balance the books after a major spending spree.

West Ham will face Liverpool battle for Conor Gallagher

The Hammers certainly won’t be alone in the race to sign Gallagher this summer.

The Independent reported earlier in April that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Gallagher for Liverpool this summer.

It was suggested that Gallagher is ‘high’ on Liverpool’s wish list as they seek new midfielders.

Gallagher is allegedly viewed as being ideal for Klopp’s midfield thanks to the energy he provides.

Gallagher was hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Graham Potter but the Blues have since sacked him, leaving the midfielder’s future up in the air.

This is a real problem for West Ham, even if they offer Gallagher a starring role in place of Rice.

Liverpool have enormous pulling power in the transfer market and, if the Reds do make an offer for Gallagher, they would expect to be ahead of West Ham in this race.

Gallagher would be quite the signing for West Ham but winning the race seems tricky.
